Tommy Robinson Seeks Political Asylum in America
TOMMY Robinson last night made a bizarre plea to Donald Trump to grant him asylum in the US – as he faces jail for contempt of court.
The EDL founder will be sentenced on Thursday after jeopardising a child grooming trial by broadcasting live outside a court on Facebook – in breach of restrictions.
Last night Robinson, real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, turned to crackpot conspiracy site InfoWars to beg for help escaping the UK.
He said: “I beg Donald Trump, I beg the American government, to look at my case.
“I need evacuation from this country because dark forces are at work.”
Robinson, 36, even claimed he would be killed if he goes to jail – alleging that British prisons are “controlled by jihadi gangs”.
Claiming the British Government is trying to “silence” him, he added: “This is a direct appeal on behalf of my family.
“We love the United States – I have no future here [in Britain].
“The country has fallen.”
Robinson, a convicted fraudster who has been jailed for assaulting an off-duty police officer, was sentenced to 10 months in 2013 for entering the US illegally.
He used a false passport to gain entry to the United States a year earlier after being banned from the country for a drugs offence.
